This is just a little note to say thank-you to all that have been supporting me and urging me along the way. The path of starting out as a full-time artist is a tough one, but infinitely rewarding when you see people appreciating your work, encouraging you to keep on.

Artists, like everyone else, have bills to pay, food to buy, unavoidable rent and living expenses.
We don't gt a weekly salary safely deposited into our account, and often frugally count every last penny to make ends meet. We don't work for "the man", as we're trying to make the world a more beautiful place with our work.

So if you like my work, and would like to see me make more of it, please consider buying something to pretty up your home, or as a gift for someone you know will appreciate the hard work that went into it.
I've got items in my store starting from a few dollars, to affordable prints, to original paintings that took weeks to complete - a worthy investment and invaluable support in helping me continue and strengthen my artistic career. I'm also always happy doing custom work for wonderful people interested in getting a special artwork made for them, a portrait in my own unique style.

Or perhaps just share this with any friends or acquaintances that you think will love my art and may be interested.

Shop Musings

While I'm in the shop full time, I'm getting to draw heaps. Which is good, always good! And I've received my first visitor who came over all the way from Paris with her mum JUST to see me! Okay... not true, but I was added to the London weekend itinerary, and the surprise visit was lovely :-)

Here are some of my newest sketches waiting to be finished....

New work and happy holidays!

With the shop closed for a couple of days due to the silly season, I want to wish everyone who has followed my progress this year, commented, supported me with encouragement or purchases and commissions - Thank You for the warmth, energy and happiness I gained!

A new sketch, ready to be painted between now and the end of the year. I wonder if I can finish her before 2013? Big hugs dearies, xx

Custom Romantic Portraits

A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do... and if it means painting pretty portraits of gorgeous girls, then so be it!
Slots now open for custom portraits painted in my "of lace and moss" style.

Post me something lovely.....

Always a dreamer and hapless romantic, I have a thing for old-fashioned letters and pretty postcards sent to loved one's from far far away. We stocked up the London Shopette (Lot 405, Camden Stables Market for anyone interested!) with new yummy stock, including hundreds of delightful girly postcards.

I've listed a few sets of four postcards, thematically grouped: Dolly Girls, Gorgeous Redheads, Flirty Coquettes, and Romantic Dreamers.

Up in my etsy shop now!

Go on, send a gorgeous girl you know a sweet postcard...

Shop Update

With the little Shopette in London open for a few days now, all our energies have been directed at getting it nice and stocked up, filled with beautiful art. So far we have a selection of canvas prints, framed artworks, originals, postcards, stickers and magnets, as well as a budding line of necklaces and pendants - all featuring my illustrations.

But that's no fun if you're not in London, huh? I got the bulk amount of canvas prints on offer up in my ETSY shop too - so go and take a peep if there's something you like! For all my followers, if there's a particular illustration of mine you'd like as a print, but don't see it in the shop, send me a convo through etsy and I'd be happy to print special requests :-) That's my little treat for you!

Now I think I've managed to keep prices pretty low for Christmas, but for every order of more than two prints I'll add little treats and presents. Sound yummy? Go on, take a look!

London Shop Opening Soon

I've been very very quiet these past months - but so much has been happening! Even if it doesn't seem directly related to art at first, it probably is, as you couldn't really separate my art and my life, as they are one and the same :-)

Right before my planned returned to Sydney, everything changed and life took quite a different turn. My adventurer and I put a hasty plan into action and wasted no time, packing up our belongings (mine wasn't hard as I've been living out of a backpack for so long anyway!) and moved to London. We now have a wonderful little home, with a printing studio for him and a drawing studio for me.

Being creative types, rather than work for someone else we decided to open up our own little shop!! With Christmas hurtling towards us, we're hurriedly trying to move in and throw together some make-shift shelving and make the store look half decent, before we can smoothly renovate and make it into a beautiful little hub of inspiration. But if all goes well we'll be "open" from tomorrow on, slowly falling into place and getting used to it!

So if you're in London, come and say hi! I need to find arty friends anyway, and figure out where all the illustrators and arty kids are hanging out ;-)

OPENING SOON
Lot 405, (The Basement) Stables Market, Chalk Farm Road, Camden, London

Stickers now for sale - yay!

With my website down whilst it's receiving plastic surgery and a make-over, you can still see my paintings on my flickr account, grouped neatly into little folders based on series. Then there's also my old DA account too.

With Christmas fast approaching (It's a month away, panic!!) I'm stocking up my shop with smaller, affordable prints and stickers. I've got girly sticker sets printed with my illustrations, and the prototypes on sale for a new set of prints on canvas instead of paper (oooh, aaah!!)

So head on over to grab a flirty little bargain now - monika viktoria on etsy

PVC Business Cards

My beautiful new business cards are not your ordinary throw-away, ragged cornered & easily torn paper cards... these are practically Armageddon proof!  Printed on laminated PVC like a professional bank-card, with neat little rounded corners. This makes them more like collectible artist trading cards, than just your ordinary cheap paper name cards.

They'll be included in etsy orders being shipped directly from me, and handed to lovely customers visiting me at the Seasonal markets I'll be at this Christmas in London.

Coming soon will be delightful sticker-sets, collectable card sets, and canvas prints.

Also, you may have noticed - my website is currently down whilst secret and amazing updates are under way! A completely new, fresh www.monikaviktoria.com is coming soon!

For fellow artists, because I know how hard it can be to find good, reliable printing companies, I had my lovely cards printed here

Quivering Secrets

Doll sketches completed during my travels in Africa. Often completed whilst detained at army camps, police offices, soldier stations, or waiting for our visa's to be approved to leave one country and be granted access to the next.

Before we left a month ago, I took this snapshot of my "Messengers" series. One of my favourite shots of my work so far: all kisses and plush pouts, quivering on the edge of telling a secret....

Away In Africa

Just a quick note to say I am alive - and have not given up drawing and painting for good :-)

My adventurer and I set out early October, and drove from Budapest to Africa, ending our trip is Bissau. I've mainly just been scribbling in raggy sketchpads, covered in coffee spills with the corners curled and torn, stained by dust and dirt and sand.

We got into some wild and weird situations, but all inspirational and amazing to experience (and live through!) I thought i would be back in Summery Sydney for Christmas, but it looks like we'll be shivering in either Budapest or London, depending on what the future brings. On the bright side - it means I won't be tempted by the beach and tropical ocean fish, but will prefer to stay indoors and paint away, hidden safely from the freezing temperatures of Europe that I disliked so much last year!

amazing photographs courtesy of my adventurer - four finger foto

Until I can upload my sketches, and get back into my refined watercolours, stay safe and well little ones, and be grateful for everything you have!
love from Africa!
